There’s a new face on campus. Born in California and Tennessee-educated, Dr. Eric Love is the new Assistant Professor of Theater and Speech. Dr. Love hopes to revive the theater program here at Tennessee Wesleyan and bring passion for theater arts into the students’ lives. Dr. Love hopes to expand the minds of students to have a broader outlook into theater, motivate and move the community, and “give voices to the voiceless”. When asked what he likes most about TWC, he couldn’t choose just one thing. “There’s just so much to like here,” said Dr. Love.
Dr. Love is also the figurehead for the newly-formed Theater Club on campus, and he wants to get as much student involvement as possible on campus. Theater Club meetings are Tuesday and Thursday nights in Townsend from 5:30pm until 7:00pm, and everyone is welcome. Attending does not mean that a student has made a commitment, and folks are welcome to come late or leave early. So, for anyone who might be interested, just stop by and see for yourself. They would be happy to have you.
With over twenty years of theater experience, Dr. Love has a lot to contribute to TWC. Dr. Love received an English major from Sewanee University, located on the Cumberland Plateau; he obtained his Masters at the University of Texas, and his PH.D from the University of Missouri. It is safe to say that Tennessee Wesleyan College has a obtained an indispensible asset to its faculty.
