Getting involved in collegiate sports, clubs and organizations is the best way to enjoy one’s college experience. Becoming active in at least one or two clubs or activities is the best way to manage time between different activities and school while meeting new people and potentially unleashing a hidden talent that could lead to a career.
Most college students have trouble managing their time. Between the rigors of Psychology or History, for example, and the burning desire to hang out with friends and exercise the freedoms of being in college, many students find themselves focusing either solely on schoolwork or their social status. In fact, many students have been forced to develop better time management skills in order to keep grades up and still have free time.
For those who find themselves more introverted, becoming involved in the school is an excellent way to socialize within the same sort of people with which he or she would normally associate. Getting involved inhibits that person from locking themselves in their room and sitting on Facebook wishing someone would add them and thrust them into society. For those who are more extroverted, it merely means that there are a few more people one can add to his or her list of friends.
Although you may not be the next Tyra Banks gracing the runway, become popular overnight because of joining the Theater club, or make the Dean’s List, getting involved can give you a great college experience. The only way to find out is to “give it the ol’ college try,” and see what happens.
