Alcohol awareness? If you already aren’t aware, you are the most naïve college ever. Surprisingly, statistically there are more parties for small private colleges than there are in large universities.
Almost every night you’ll have a chance to go to a party, school night or not. Alcohol and drugs will almost indefinitely be there. The ever-expanding freshman class (mostly minors) has just as much access to alcohol than the twenty-two year old seniors. With the newness of college, students want to try everything; they have no parental restrictions anymore, so the younger students are more likely to get in trouble. All new college students are itching to bend the rules. You know it’s true.
Proportionally, small campuses have more parties than larger campuses; probably because they are too taboo and everyone loves to break the rules. In August, sixteen underage Tennessee Wesleyan Students were busted at a party; they had the honor of having their names in the Daily Post Athenian: on the front page. Humiliating, no? It’s a method of discouraging this kind of partying. Administration and the community are willing to do whatever it takes to keep you kids safe, because nothing has worked yet. Think about how much you are risking partying every night.
Even if you don’t care about public embarrassment, your grades will drop tremendously; too much partying means less time to study. So go out and have fun; just make school your number one priority.
