Let’s face it: the dorm rooms can get a little dull, and around finals the dorm rooms can seem like a little box, especially if that is where you do most of your studying. Here’s a few decorating ideas on a college budget.
- Snowflakes. Get white paper or colorful construction paper. Cut into circles, and then fold them up. After that, cut a variety of designs into the paper. Unfold it and hang it on your door or window for a little snow effect.
- The local dollar store has small trees, lights, and ornaments to decorate the dorm. More can be bought if roommates pitch in and buy together.
- Battery operated candles can be used to light a menorah.
- Personalized stockings. Get plain red stockings and personalize them with your name and your roommate’s name with glitter or a colorful marker.
- Cotton ball snowman. First, cut three circles from construction paper. The circles should be in three different sizes ranging from a diameter of 1 1/2 – 2 inches to 4 1/2 – 5 inches. Next, attach the circles together, biggest to smallest. Cotton balls then need be glued to the circles. To finish your snowman, cut additional snowman features such as a hat or carrot from construction paper and glue to the snowman.
The most important thing is to remember to have fun with the holidays. Start your own Holiday tradition here at college with roommates, old friends, and new pals. Happy holidays!
