Okay, I’m going to be as apparent as I can about this. There are many different kinds of drivers out there. You have those who are very fast and love to lead the way. Others just follow and use the fast person(s) as an example. However, there is a third group, among others, that I wish to discuss.
Personally, I am a quick driver. I do about 10 mph more than the speed limit on average, but who doesn’t? There are simple rules about the road everyone should know. You should stop at stop signs and red lights, yield the right of way, and follow the speed “limit” (suggestion). Yet, there are those who don’t com¬pletely understand.
To be very frank, the left lane is the FAST LANE. It is for those who are maniacal in their driving and want to get somewhere fast. Yes, it is sometimes bad for the environment and may cause accidents, but the slow drivers of the road are a danger, too.
My point is that the left lane of the road is not there to go the same speed as the right lane. You stay there on 3 conditions:
1) You are going quickly.
2) You are trying to pass.
3) Someone is merging onto the interstate, and you are trying to allow them passage.
Unless you are following these condi¬tions, stay out of the left lane. This is my one and only warning before your backend gets a per¬sonal introduction to my front bumper. Have a nice day.
