Athens, Tenn. – TWC is hosting its annual Alumni Weekend, also known as Homecoming, October 16 and 17, 2009, with a schedule full of family friendly activities. Events include a golf tournament, student art exhibit and reception, dedication of the Dwain Farmer memorial statue, alumni/student choir concert, picnic lunch, awards dinner and banquet, and a young alumni gathering at Jenkins Grille & Market.
The two-day celebration kicks off Friday at 1 p.m. with the annual Alumni Weekend Golf Tournament at Springbrook Golf & Country Club and continues on campus later that evening with dinner in the dining hall, a student art exhibit and a reception for all former and current choir members.
Saturday’s schedule is full of opportunities for alumni and friends to enjoy the college’s beautiful campus. The day begins with a reunion for the Class of 1949, which also includes the Classes of 1948 and 1950, and a reception for Golden Club Alumni. The afternoon is filled with athletic events, including an alumni softball game, alumni baseball game and a TWC men’s soccer game, where the TWC Homecoming king and queen will be crowned.
Other events planned for Saturday include a TWC student art exhibit, dedications of the Dwain Farmer memorial statue and new entrance, the alumni/student choir concert, reunions, a reception for Hall of Fame members and former TWC coaches, the awards banquet and dinner and a young alumni gathering. The awards banquet and dinner will feature the inductions of four TWC Athletic Hall of Fame members and the presentation of the Outstanding Young Alumnus Award, Distinguished Alumnus Award and the Friend of Wesleyan Award.
