On Saturday, February 6, our Lady Bulldogs Lacrosse team took on the nationally-ranked Lindenwood University Lions. The game started off to a strong start for the Lady Bulldogs. Fifteen minutes into the game, the Lady Bulldogs were holding off the No. 9 team in the country, with the Lions up only two to one. The Lady Bulldogs worked hard the entire first half of the game. They kept their heads up and played as a team. At the end of the first half, the score was eleven to three.
The second half started off well, but the pressure being applied by Lindenwood was starting to get to the Lady Bulldogs. The Lions gained momentum and scored a few times before the Bulldogs could recover. The Lady Bulldogs did get quite a few shots on goal; unfortunately they didn’t make it in. Relentlessly, the Lady Bulldogs did not give up and continued until the very end of the game.
The game was rough, but it was also a very good learning experience. For six of the Lady Bulldogs, it was their first lacrosse game. However, you wouldn’t know that they were brand new to the sport. After the game, Coach Grant Kelam stated, “I felt good about the game. We were 14 goals away from the No. 9 team in the country. It gives us an idea of where we stand. I didn’t see anything we couldn’t fix.”
The next home game for the Lady Bulldogs is against SCAD on March 13 at 1:30 p.m. Wish the Lady Bulldogs luck as they head to Missouri Baptist College for their next game on Saturday, March 6 at 10 a.m. All of the girls are looking forward to a win and to what the rest of the season has in store. Even Coach Kelam stated that “Next game, with us being a young team, the only direction is up and improving.”
