Play Ball! Tennessee Wesleyan hosted the first home baseball games of the season during the weekend of February 12, 2010. Players and fans alike were surprised to see heavy snow falling during the Friday game. The Bulldogs faced Saint Francis from Indiana, a NAIA college. The Bulldogs played a total of three games over the weekend and were expected to play four, but due to the inclement weather, the second game was cancelled on Friday.
Although the weather was not cooperating, the Bulldogs made it through with three wins. When asked how he thought the home games went, pitcher and outfielder, Max Loveland stated, “It was nice to get out and play at our home field. As a team, we played well together, although, at times we were sloppy. As a team, we can make adjustments for the better. I thought it was a good weekend of games even though the weather was not good. We still made it out with three wins.” The final score for the first game was 11-0 in favor of the Bulldogs. The lead pitcher for this game was Troy Graybill. The final score of the second game was 4-2, with the lead pitcher being Daniel Wood. The overall score for the third game was 12-2, with the lead pitcher being Justin Crowell. Two players, Brad Pippa and Jonny Smith, both hit home-runs during the weekend games. All in all, the Tennessee Wesleyan baseball team did a great job out on the field with three wins, and we wish them the best of luck in their upcoming games.
