Tennessee Wesleyan College had a convocation about the Career Development Center on January 28, 2010. The director of the Career Development Center is Thema Nicholson, who joined the Tennessee Wesleyan family at the beginning of this school year.
The Career Development Center is available for every student on campus (residents and commuters). The center is there for students to come for need help, but they have to come in on their own. No one can drag them into the center and force them to receive help. Students can receive help on resume writing, interviewing skills, and job searching skills. These are just some of the things that the Career Development Center does to assist Wesleyan students.
Students may also find information about graduate schools and career-related information and resources. One of the greatest things about having this center on campus is that students have the opportunity to stay up-to-date about the jobs in the area. The Director of Career Development keeps a list of jobs posted outside of her office and around campus for students to see.
The Career Development Center helps students of various academic standings. It can help students figure out what they want to do after graduating from Tennessee Wesleyan College. The center also helps with the transition from college to the real world. Thema Nicholson will help all students that are willing to put in the work. She even said that she would stay after hours, if she needed to help a student with his or her career aspirations.
If you need help landing a job, fixing a resume, or just finding out about graduate school, stop by the Career Development Center. The center’s hours are 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. throughout the school week. You can also email Thema Nicholson at tnicholson@twcnet.edu, or call her at (423) 746-5224. Everyone can get a job if they put in the work. Here at Tennessee Wesleyan, there are even additional resources to help us along the way!
